Serves 4
Plain flour 225g (8 oz)
Baking powder 15 ml (1 tbsp)
Butter 50g (2oz)
Gold Top 150ml (1/4 pint)
To serve: Clotted Cream or Gold Top Double Cream
and Strawberry Jam
1) Sift the flour and add the baking powder and butter
into a bowl
2) Rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs
3) Add the milk and mix to a dough
4) Roll out on a floured surface to 1cm thickness (1/2 ins) and cut
out with a 5cm diam (2 ins) cutter
5) Place on greased baking tray and brush the tops with milk
6) Bake at 230ºC (450ºF) or Gas Mark 8 for 10 minutes
7) Leave to cool, then cut in half and spread with Gold Top Cream and
Strawberry Jam
